As we near the end of the half term and look forward to the Queen’s Jubilee, we wanted to get in touch and just update you on what has been a really busy and exciting half term for us as a school.
The Year 11 and 13 students have begun their exams, as well as some students in Year 10. Staff were in school supporting students during the Easter holidays and this commitment has continued on Saturdays and Sundays throughout May, and will continue into June. The attitude of all our students has been brilliant and hopefully they will continue to reap the rewards for all of their hard work.
The long anticipated phone call came on Tuesday 3 May and the school was inspected on 4 and 5 May. Whilst we are unable to share the official outcome of the inspection until it is published by Ofsted, we want to say that we are incredibly proud of the attitudes and support shown by all of our students and parents throughout the course of the inspection.
In other exciting news we celebrated with the Spencer Academies Trust their 10 year anniversary with our contribution towards the ‘SAT Superstars’ launch on 13 May 2022. Staff and students’ elaborate superstar fancy dress was something to be proud of and our extravaganza in the afternoon managed to raise a brilliant £2500 for the charity. Continuing with the wider trust, The Spencer Academies Trust has also been nationally recognised as a “World Class Multi Academy Trust”. As an established academy within the trust we look forward to the opportunities this will bring us as a school.
As we approach the 31 May resignation date, we once again buck the national trends and look well positioned to be fully staffed for September. With that said, one of our key middle leaders Mrs Pearse (Achievement Leader for Year 9) is going on maternity leave today and we wish her the very best. In terms of replacing Mrs Pearse we have secured the appointments of two really strong external Achievement Leaders. Mr Bentley joins us as a current Achievement Leader working in central London and will take over the leadership of Year 9. Mrs Britton, who currently holds a senior leadership post at an outstanding school in central Birmingham will also be joining us and taking over the leadership of Year 7 where Mrs Saunders (Associate Assistant Principal) has recently been supporting.
As we look forward to the final half term we rightly focus on the remainder of the exams for our Year 11 and 13 students.
We will also look forward to July where we will invite our incoming Year 6 students on site for 3 days of transition activities.
In addition there are a number of other key dates to draw your attention to and further details of these will be released in due course:-
