Message from the Executive Principal

Dear Parent/Carer

Further to the Government’s announcements yesterday regarding the proposed early closure of schools, the Spencer Academies Trust schools will be following Government guidance and finishing the autumn term at the end of the school day on Thursday 17 December. This will allow staff teams to meet their obligations for contact tracing. This means that Friday 18 December will be an additional Inset Day for our school.

Students will not attend on this day and will be encouraged to complete work at home. Having only received Government guidance yesterday we realise that this is short notice but equally, it is important to inform you as soon as possible to allow you to make the necessary arrangements.

The senior leadership team will be working up to and including Wednesday 23 December to ensure any new cases of Covid-19 are adequately contact traced. Therefore, if your child develops symptoms between school closure and subsequently tests positive, you must inform the school using the details below, so that any close contacts can be notified: mail@heanorgate.derbyshire.sch.uk

During the final week of term, if your child shows any Covid-19 related symptoms, then we would strongly advise you to act on the side of caution and keep them at home, so that any potential spread of the virus will not impact families and the wider community over the festive period.

I will be sending one final piece of communication to you next week. For now, once again, I thank you all for your continued support.

Yours sincerely

Mr S Huntington
Executive Principal
