Each year we offer our students in Year 11 the chance to experience what studying at HGSC is like once they finish their GCSEs and move on to post-16 education by holding a Sixth Form Taster Day.
This year Mr Graham, the Head of Sixth Form, welcomed over 110 Year 11s on November’s INSET day, freeing up our staff and subject-specific classrooms from their usual bubble ties to give the students the widest selection of sessions we’ve ever been able to offer, and with the choice of 31 different courses to study at Heanor Gate Sixth Form, there were some tough decisions for some when deciding which four 4 subjects to have a taste of.
Student attendance on the day was particularly impressive considering it was a completely optional event on a day students would normally be able to stay at home. Attendees immersed themselves into the activities and general student feedback was that the experience was interesting and enjoyable.
