What a week for sporting achievements we have had! Yesterday our Y7, 8, 9, and 10 students competed in the District Athletics, bringing home a whole host of medals! Heats included the following:
- 100/300/800/1500 meter sprints
- Relay
- Hurdles
- Shot-put
- Long jump
- High jump
- Javelin
- Discus
Our Y7 team did exceptionally well to come overall 1st in District, Y10 boys also came 2nd in District – a fantastic achievement. Y9 girls came 2nd in Amber Valley and Y10 girls were 3rd overall. All our students did brilliantly to have been selected and to perform so well against some tough competition in an event of this size and standard.
The sporting success continued last weekend when two of our male students won the high jump and hurdles at Derbyshire Schools Athletics. One of these sporting heroes also came second in the shot-put to add to the medals. Both how now qualified for England School as a result of their phenomenal achievements.
Finally, one of our Y9 students once again competed in the Dwarf Sports in Sheffield last weekend, bringing home the bronze in badminton doubles to add to the 6 which he won at the event last year.
We are so proud of you all for being committed and resilient enough to earn your place at these events and courageous enough to perform – well done to you all.
