Students visit one of the world’s leading universities

On 24th March, 30 of our most academic Y11 and Y12 students made their way down to The University of Oxford to be submerged in an atmosphere only found at one of the world’s leading universities.

After a 7am departure and a sleepy coach journey, the group had a walk around the city centre, visiting a number of Oxford’s most prestigious colleges. They then took part in a series of workshops at the beautiful St Edmund Hall, exploring life as an Oxbridge student. Students were given a tour, they met current students and enjoyed a three-course lunch.

Afternoon sessions guided students through the application process and gave them a taste of seminar-based learning.

Mr Graham, Head of Post 16, said the students were a credit to HGSA throughout the day and many have already expressed a genuine desire to apply to The University of Oxford or Cambridge University during the coach trip home.
