Over recent weeks, I have written to you on a number of occasions regarding positive cases of Covid-19 in school. I am writing to you now as we prepare for a long weekend for students and an Inset Day for staff to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to all parents, carers and students for your incredible patience, flexibility and support throughout this challenging time.
We are very proud of how students have adapted to our new systems and I am pleased to report that due to this, the rigorous and robust systems of seating plans and social distancing, and the tireless efforts of our staff ensuring students are safe, we have had no positive student cases of Covid-19 since 4 September. Students are maintaining an excellent standard of behaviour and our attendance is at the highest level since the beginning of term.
Whilst this is encouraging and we are obviously delighted that we as a school and community are doing so well it is not the time to be either complacent or relax. We must continue to follow the guidance set out by the Prime Minister around social distancing guidelines and maintaining good hygiene when outside of our homes. We have heard in the news this week that the North of the Country have had curfews and further restrictions put in place and we hope that as a community we can prevent the same in our area. The next few months are going to be even harder than the last couple so it is imperative we all continue to do everything in our power to keep the infection rates down. We will be having the entire school deep cleaned tomorrow and staff will be working from home to ensure this can happen in the most effective way
On a further positive note we have today launched our Y6 transition website due to the fact that the normal ‘Open Evening’ cannot occur due to the current restrictions. I would ask you to have a look as a current parent, as it shows how far the school has come over the last few years and is something we can all be very proud of. We really do now have a school the local community can talk about with excitement and pride. The link is below.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back into school on Monday for what will be a big and important three weeks prior to the half term break.
